composer's notes
This was the last project created by the MA CTPD cohort of 21/22 that asked the question "what is queer joy?", and answered it through an exploration of the meanings behind the colours of the original pride flag made by Gilbert Baker. Every aspect of this production was a collaborative effort from the concept to the final performance. I chose to use live instruments, creating a site-specific score. The live instruments allowed more fluidity throughout the show and also added a human aspect to a video-heavy production. I worked collaboratively with the sound designer, April Johnston, to allow the sound and music to seamlessly blend together.
